I brought Gabe over to visit the grandparents this past weekend. It was nice, and we had a good little visit. In all honesty, I think they would have been just as happy if I'd dropped Gabe off and made myself scarce! We parents are not as important anymore. It's the BABIES they wanna see! LOL
While we were there, I'd brought along a crochet shawl I'd just finished working on, so that I could show it off a little and gloat at my handiwork. :) Someone on my bus to work asked if he could buy it from me for his wife for Christmas. It was my first time actually selling something I'd stitched (yay me!), so it had to look nice. I still had my "Handmade by" label to sew on, and I was having a bit of trouble getting my stitches even.
In comes Mum to the rescue!
The evening was comfortably cool, so she and I sat our chairs out back and set up a table for our coffees. She offered me tips on the best way to get my hand-sewn stitches nice and even, then finally offered to just do it for me. LOL Was I really that terrible at it?? Either way, it was just...well, nice! I can't remember the last time she and I sat down and she instructed me on how to do something. It seemed very old fashioned in a way, I suppose.
My parents aren't particularly old per se, but they're both in their 60s now. I wonder sometimes how much time we'll get to spend with our loved ones, since Life tends to get busy and just fly by. I'm just a few weeks away from turning 34 (and proud of it, by God!), and it seems like yesterday that I was riding in the back seat of our Blue Bird to and from school.
If nothing else, I just wanted to say it's good to slow down sometimes. Cherish your time with your loved ones. Even something as simple as having a cup of coffee with your mum and catching up on the mundane everyday things, it's time you'll never get back once it's gone.
(On a side note, it also helps if you don't drink coffee so late in the evening, as I was wired until about 2:30 a.m. Which, consequently, does nothing for my Beauty Sleep regimen, since I had a busy day the next day. LOL!)
Wouldn't take it back though. I'll have to have coffee with Mum more often!

Funny Moment
Zeke fell asleep pretty quickly last night, but Gabe took a little coaxing. While I was kneeling by the side of his bed, trying to get my hug and kiss for the night, he looked at me and made the classic fish face.
"Whatcha doin', fish face?" I asked.
"Nothin'" he beamed back at me.
I had to laugh. That was the funniest-looking fish face I'd seen in a while.
So, of course, he did it again. And I laughed. And he did it again. And I laughed harder. Pretty soon, we were both laughing pretty hard, and I had to tone it down before we woke poor old Zeke up with all that noise!
*sigh!* I just love moments like those. :)
